A welcome return to normality....well almost.

Nice to be shooting outdoors again

It was nice to get out shooting again as The Longbow Club, and doing a Traditional Clout. It was nice to meet up with members we have not seen in twelve months, but also to welcome new member Luca Powell who has not shot with the club before let alone a clout!

To be fair, he did a pretty good job on the mini rove as well!

Latest Guidelines for Re-Opening

Outdoor shooting can commence from March 29th

Sport and physical activity play a hugely important role in our lives, however to uphold wider public health objectives, limits have been placed on some activities and settings in order to limit social contact and reduce transmission.

This guidance sets out information for archery providers on how to participate in grassroots sport and physical activity during COVID-19 restrictions.

From 29 March, the rules on social contact will change. People will not be required to stay at home, and will be permitted to meet outdoors in groups of up to 6 people, or as a group of two households, for exercise or recreation.

A group made up of two households can include more than 6 people, but only where all members of the group are from the same two households (or support/childcare bubbles, where eligible). Social distancing must be maintained between people who do not live together or share a support bubble.

About Us

The Longbow Club is a friendly traditional only archery club based in Birkenhead, Wirral, Merseyside. We concentrate on all types of traditional archery from English Longbow, American Flatbow, Hunter recurve to horsebows and have firm links to The Longbow Shop. We don’t allow modern olympic recurve or compound bows in the club.

As well as having four Archery GB qualified coaches, our members consist of both male and female archers with seniors and juniors competing in Archery GB indoor and outdoor tournaments. Some of our senior archers represent the club in the winter Cheshire leagues.

In addition to Archery GB membership some of our members are also associated with National Field Archery Society (NFAS), English War Bow Society (EWBS), British Long Bow Society (BLBS) and are actively encouraged to shoot all forms of traditional archery.
