10th Longbow Western

Fabulous day at the Kendal Bowmen Longbow Western, and the weather, although cool, was kind and dry.

Huge thanks to Tony, Lorraine and all at Kedal Bowmen for making this such a fun shoot.

Congratulations to Katrina Horton, Lady Longbow highest score, Helen Horsley, Lady Longbow most hits and Chris Eccles best gold. 

Sandon Hall Rove

A great day with The Shire Bowmen at their Rove on the Sandon Hall Estate, Stafford. 

A really beautiful venue and a great course, courtesy of Amanda Smith, Dave Burnett and the Shire team.

A good turnout with about 65 archers in total, 6 of those representing The Longbow Club.

Congratulations to Sarah Cavanagh, 3nd Light Longbow, Katrina Horton, 2nd Light Longbow and Ben Cavanagh, 1st Junior Longbow.

Shropshire County Clout & Open

A great day at the Shropshire County Clout and Open held at The British Ironworks in Oswestry.

The wind was very blustery but not as bad as last year when we had to stop shooting at lunchtime.

Congratulations to Katrina Horton, 1st Lady Longbow Visitor and to Chris Eccles, 1st Gent Longbow Visitor.

Thank you to all from Croesoswallt Archers for an excellent day.

Poulton Hall – Autumn Rove

A fantastic day at Poulton Hall for The Longbow Clubs’ Autumn Rove.

The weather was forecast rain until lunchtime, then brighten up, but then a downpour around 3pm. However, we got some drizzle in the morning as we assembled but then it cleared and the sun came out and it stayed dry all day.

Thank you to the members for all their help and support in making the day so enjoyable. Thank you to Alison for the flapjacks and to Katrina for the cakes.

But the biggest thank you is to all the archers who attended. without you, this event events would not be possible.

Sandringham Rove

What a fabulous day at Royal Sandringham. Thanks to Pip Bickerstaffe and the Shire Bowmen for making it so much fun.

We started of with the Shire Bowmen doing what looked like the March of the Archers. Sorry I only took stills, wish I had turned the camera to video.

Congratulations to Katrina Horton who came 1st in the Light Bow category.

Thank you also to the ‘Thumb Ring Archers’ for demonstrating their style of shooting. 

Kendal Clout

After a couple of years absence, the Kendal Imperial Clout Weekend returned to challenge us. 

It was a great weekend, with Saturdays weather much better than Sundays. Although, funnily enough, people shot better on the Sunday.

Congratulations to Katrina Horton, 1st Lady Longbow, Diane Jobson, 2nd Lady Longbow and Elaine Jobson, 3rd Lady Longbow. Congratulations also to Martin Leonard, 1st Gent Longbow, Chris Eccles, 2nd Gent Longbow and Ian Norwood, 3rd Gent Longbow.

Flodden Marks

A fantastic days shooting at The Flodden Marks today. Shooting with friends old and new and with perfect weather. An excellent turnout from The Longbow Club, with Sue and Pete Price, Josh McLaren, Sarah and Colin Cavanagh, Abbey and Ben Cavanagh, Katrina Horton and Chris Eccles.
Congratulations to Ben Cavanagh 1st Junior Longbow and to Katrina Horton, 1st Lady Longbow.
A great big thank you to Rebecca and Jason Stokes and The Flodden Crew for an superb day, a very challenging rove and free cake!

Sword of Shrewsbury

Excellent day at The Sword of Shrewsbury, an annual event consisting of a BLBS Double Two Way Clout followed by a Two Way National Round.

In the Clout competition, congratulations to Fran Smith who was lady longbow with the most hits, Katrina Horton, lady longbow with the highest score and Dee Jones who had the most clouts.

In the target competition, Katrina Horton was lady longbow most hits, Fran Smith was lady longbow with the highest score and Penny Neaveson, lady longbow with the most golds.

Overall, Fran Smith, just pipped Katrina to become the supreme champion taking the trophey and the ladys’ dagger.

Hamish Freeman was the supreme champion, taking the trophey and the Sword, Chris Eccles got gents longbow most golds in the target competition.

Northern Counties Clout Championships

Day 2 - Imperial Clout

A good finish to the Northern Counties Clout Championships. Katrina Horton was 3rd Lady Longbow; she, Chris Eccles and Alison Williams won the Club Team Longbow award (Steve Williams tied with Chris today). Steve, Nina and Alison were the Cheshire Longbow Team today (yesterday it was Nina, Chris and Alison) and Cheshire won the overall Team Trophy for the first time in ages.
We all had great fun and it was lovely to see so many of our friends.

Northern Counties Clout Championships

Day 1 - Metric Clout

Another good day for the Longbow Club at the Northern Counties Metric Clout. Diane Jobson was 1st Lady Longbow, Katrina Horton was 2nd Lady Longbow and Alison Williams was 3rd; Steve Williams was 2nd Gent Longbow; Nina, Steve and Alison won the Club Team Longbow award. Despite some heavy showers a good time was had by all!
