A great day at the Kendal Bowmen – 42nd Club and Open Indoor Portsmouth. A very pleasant and easy drive saw us arrive in plenty of time.

Following a nice easy and relaxed lunch in the Wakefield arms, we returned for the presentation where Katrina Horton was first Lady Longbow and Chris Eccles was first Gent Longbow.

Thank you to all Kendal Bowmen club members for making this such an enjoyable shoot.

A good time for their first outdoor shoot of 2019. A Metric Clout at Sherwood Archers in a lovely setting. It was a little bit chilly and wet in the morning and windy with some sun in the afternoon. This was their first time shooting theirr heavy clout bows since last season. Alison Williams was 2nd Lady Longbow and Steve Williams was 2nd Gent Longbow.

Bowbrook Archers’ Rove

[two_third]

Great day at Boreatton Park with Bowbrook Archers. The weather was beautiful and the company exhilarating, Katrina was first lady and it was great to catch up with old friends and make some new acquaintances. Boreatton Park is a fabulous place to hold a rove, and we look forward to joining you all again.

Congratulations to Lord Ian Stowell on his performance at the National Indoor Championships today.
4th place in the qualifying round (and only missed out on 3rd place by number of 10s), then he got through to the quarter finals and was only just beaten by the guy who was later runner-up in the final. Definitely putting The Longbow Club on the map!

Caldy Bowmen’s 39th Indoor Tournament

[two_third]

Congratulations to all the Longbow Club members who took part in Caldy Bowmen’s 39th Indoor Tournament yesterday at Leasowe. Especially to Keith Ledson who won his first ever medal! He was 3rd Gent Longbow, part of the winning team for the Longbow Team Trophy (alongside Katrina Horton and Lord Ian Stowell) and also achieved a Black Deva badge. Not bad having taken up archery a year ago – and with a bow he made himself!

Katrina Horton was 1st Lady Longbow; Lord Ian Stowell was 1st Gent Longbow; Dylan Higgs was 1st Junior Boy Longbow; Katrina and Chris Eccles won the Longbow Jack and Jill medals and were also presented with flowers and wine for their help with running the scoring for the day. Also taking part were Graham Higgs and Mike Christison.
Ian and Katrina also did very well in the raffle as well!

Dylan took the Bray 1 and Bray 2 records in the under 14 Junior Longbow and came 2nd Junior Longbow overall in the competition at Green Lane Archers in Northumberland.

Ian took the Gent Longbow Bray 1 and Bray 2 records and was denied 1st Gent Longbow due to an adding up error on the score sheet.

Shropshire and Open Clout

[two_third]

Brilliant last Clout of the season for The Longbow Club at Bowbrook Archers for the Shropshire Clout Championships. A bit chilly but dry and the sun shone most of the day and the breeze wasn’t too strong.

Great company and a lot of laughs as usual. Delicious soup and cakes too! The Lord Patron was Patrick Huston who was also shooting his first Clout.

There were 6 Members from The Longbow Club: Alison Williams, Steve Williams, Katrina Horton, Chris Eccles, Phil Wain and Lord Ian Stowell. In the Open Competition Katrina was 1st Lady Longbow and Alison was 2nd; Steve was 1st Gent Longbow, Chris was 2nd and Ian was 3rd. Katrina also won the Best Clout with wooden arrows.

Alison beat her Personal Best by 20 points and was just 5 points off an MB score. Katrina was 6 points shy of her GMB – a nice way to finish the season.
